Abstract The cultural identity of rural tourist destination is an important premise to reconstruct and revitalize rural culture. Based on the theory of cultural memory and the theory of local sense, the perception model of rural cultural memory space for residents & tourists is constructed by combining literature review, questionnaire survey and interview. In this paper, taking Suzhou Jinting rural tourism destination as an example, the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and first-order confirmatory factor analysis (first-order CFA) are used to explore the perception dimension composition of residents & tourists, and the influence effect is analyzed by second-order confirmatory factor analysis (second-order CFA). The conclusions show that:The perception dimensions of tourists and residents are mainly reflected in four dimensions, namely, time perception dimension, space perception dimension, culture perception dimension and emotion perception dimension. Time perception dimension shows the awakening of past experience, recalling related people and things. Spatial perception dimension deepens people's experience of local culture through immersive experience. Cultural perception dimension is helpful to understand the value and characteristics of rural culture and enhance the cultural charm of rural tourism.
